Post World War II Life Experience:

Following the war Steve attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he earned his Masters of Science degree. Following his graduation he returned to sea as the assistant Gunnery Officer aboard the USS Coral Sea CVB-43. He then took command of the USS Melvin R. Nawman DE-416 from 1952-1954. Steve then served as the commanding officer of the USS Hawkins DD-873 and later the Guided Missle Cruiser USS Leahy CG-16.

During his long Naval career Steve earned (2) Legion of Merit, and (2) Bronze Stars with Combat Insignia.

He also served as Technical Assistant to the Secretary of the Navy, Staff Director of the Interagency Committee on Oceanograph, Assistant Director of the Secretary of the Navy's Office of Program Appraisal; Technical Officer Task Group 3.1: Technical Officer, Nuclear Energy Applications, Bureau of Ordnance; Director, Nuclear School, Armed Forces Special Weapons Project; and as Commander, Naval Weapons Laboratory.

Steve married and raised two children and is the grandfather to five.

Following retirement from active duty in 1972, Steve has remained very active in his Community, Scientific Organizations, Church, Alumni Associations, and Veterans Organizations.
