Post World War II Life Experience:

Following the war, Louis returned home, where he married his wife Gloria Haigis. Lou and Gloria raised four children, and are now Grandparents to seven and Great Grandparents to two more.

Lou spent his working career working in the tool and die making industry. He worked as foreman for Novelty Jewelry and Metal Products as a tool and die machinist . He later later spent 37 years with Republic Aviation as a machinist and set-up man.

Over the years Lou worked various part time jobs as well, including: Driving School bus, Dump Truck Driver, working an Ice Cream Truck, and running a Children's Whip Ride.

Lou's Memories of the USS Champlin and World War II are many, including:

Seeing the World, and spending Liberties in so many Foreign Ports.

Floating in the Middle of the Atlantic Ocean without steam, as the Champlin crew hurried about trying to restore power.

Escorting President Roosevelt to Russia.
