USS Champlin Mini-Reunion 2001

Lou Gilbert is Chairman of the USS Champlin's mini-reunion May 7-May 11, 2001 at the Ocean Holiday Motor Inn, 6501 Ocean Avenue, Wildwood Crest, NJ 08260. 1-800-321-6232. The packaged deal cost:$170 per person, double occupancy. Lou is trying to negotiate a lower rate for single occupancy. Lou would like to know of your intentions to attend, accompanied by a $100 deposit, as soon as possible. USS Champlin Reunion 2001

Larry Suter is Chairman of the USS Champlin Reunion Group's 2001 Reunion, assisted by Honey Morton. They will be mailing a complete packet of material to all Reunion Group members as soon as the details have been finalized. However, here is a brief description of arrangements to date. The reunion is to be held September 12-16, 2001 at the Embassy Suites Hotel, 7290 Commerce Center Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80919 The hotel provides a complimentary reception from 5:30-7:30 pm nightly, a complimentary cook to order breakfast each morning, a lush tropical Atrium, and rooms with refrigerator, microwave oven, wet bar and in-room coffee service. An express check-out will be available, as well as racquet and health club facilities, golf tee times through the front desk and the popular Polo Club Bar and Grill. Special room rates of $89.00 per night (one or two people) have been negotiated. This rate will apply to reservations received by August 11, 2001. Rates are subject to applicable taxes. Check in time is 3:00 pm and check out time 12:00 noon. For reservations call 1-719-599-9100 or toll free 1-800-EMBASSY. When calling for reservations be certain to mention the USS Champlin Reunion Group by name.

A guided tour of the NORAD facilities will be arranged if there is sufficient interest. However, because of the necessity for security clearances for all visitors, your interest in this tour must be affirmed early. Security clearance investigations take at least three months to complete. Therefore, if you have an interest in this tour, please advise Larry just as soon as possible.

Other tours scheduled include:
Thursday, September 13, the Air Force Academy, Garden of the Gods and a drive through Old Colorado City and downtown Colorado Springs. ( total 4 hours) Starts at 9:00 am. Trans-portation, Guide and Lunch: $35.00 per person.

Also on Thursday, September 13, starting at 5:00 pm, Flying W Ranch for dinner beginning at 7:00 pm. Transportation, dinner and show, (total 4.5 hours) $28.00 per person.

Friday, September 14, Pikes Peak Cog Train and Taste of Colorado 8:30 am - 3:30 pm. Lunch at Howard's Bar-B-Q. Transportation, train ticket, guide and lunch $55.00 per person.

Saturday, September 15, 2001, Castle Rock Factory Outlet for the Ladies. (9:00 am - 3:00 pm) Transportation only: $22.00 per person

The Annual Meeting of the Champlin Reunion Group will be held on Saturday morning. The traditional banquet will be held on Saturday evening.
