Post World War II Life Experience:

After his honorable discharge from the Navy at the end of the war, Goddie returned to Columbia, Pa, and reunited with his wife Dorothy and their young son. He returned to work at his postion at Armstrong World Industries where he worked in management, and remained until retirement 47 years later.

Goddie then moved to Lancaster Pa, with his wife, there they raised 7 children (4 sons, 3 daughters). He remained a dedicated father.

Goddie developed an interest in property restoration, doing all the work himself, Goddie restored 10 different properties, including his own historic home.

Goddie remained a gifted and talented athlete, and enjoyed playing basketball, tennis, and football, As an avid sports fan, Goddie enjoyed supporting his beloved Phillies, and Pittsburg Steelers.

Goddie has held many interests and hobbies over his lifetime, perhaps his proudest are his model trains. He still maintains 20 trains on a 2 story layout.

He has been affectionately referred to as 'the Mayor of Wheatland Avenue' - where he entertains daily on his front porch.

While he has many memories of the USS Champlin, he has been most honored with a service medal awarded him by the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
